Tonya Mashea
Elston grew up in Baltimore, MD where she attended Roland Park Country
School. Although she excelled in the Arts, she was chosen to attend
the Lead Program at UCLA to study business.
Upon graduating from high school in 1988, Tonya attended the Rhode
Island School of Design. At RISD, Tonya completed
an internship at Liz Claiborne in NYC and was chosen to attend the
prestigious Saga
Design Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. Tonya graduated from
RISD with honors earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Apparel Design.
After graduation Tonya moved to Washington D.C. where she was Head
of Design for a men’s urban sportwear line called African American
College Alliance. In 1994 Tonya moved to Cincinnati where she worked
for Mercantile Stores as a private label product manager. In 1997
Tonya worked for Adidas
International managing marketing, design,
and product development for the Kids International Division. In 2000
Tonya launched a freelance design company with the primary focus on
the footwear industry. She designed footwear for Teva for five years.
Tonya currently resides in Fallbrook, California with her husband
and two children. |
